And yet their parents will still offer to order you a pizza!

A black mom knows that if there is any food in the house, even if it’s a pack of crackers, you’d better not ask for anything else. If she cooks on Christmas, those leftovers are gonna last until Easter. Why would you pay someone to deliver food when you have two perfectly good feet that can walk to the grocery store?

And don’t ask, “What’s for dinner?” unless you’re offering to cook.

When white parents do succeed in dragging little Ashlii and Jake to church, it’s usually to a megachurch – a concert hall where the music sounds like Greenday and the pastor looks like an Abercrombie model.

Black churches, often called AME Mount Zion Holy Church of the Blessed Savior Amen, have not changed since the slavery era. The preacher always sounds like he’s singing. The choir director twerks like Rihanna. And you won’t be able to see the pulpit because everyone’s hats are so enormous.
