For me, my only goal is to stay in a clean room in a safe neighborhood.

I usually have no other criteria other than that.

When I think of the hospitality field, my brain is conditioned to think that the hotel I’ve reserved my stay in is non-Blacked owned.

Chances are, that’s true.

Understanding that, I would love to be able to stay in a Black-owned hotel and resort.

In the past, I wasn’t even thinking to seek out these establishments, but now I am.

Whether you’re traveling in the United States or making an international trip, be sure you check out one of these Black-owned hotels or resorts around the world.

The Ivy Hotel In Mount Vernon, Maryland

If you ever travel to Baltimore, you’re going to want to try the luxury Ivy Hotel.

Considered Baltimore’s hidden gem, The Ivy has 17 beautiful guest rooms and suites.

This is in addition to a luxury spa, charming public spaces, and their very own bistro. 

Listed as one of the best hotels in the country by numerous publications, the experience at this “jewel” will have you dreading your return home.

The Oak Bluffs Inn In Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

While I’m always one to be interested in food options, the Salamander Resort & Spa offers great activities that include hiking, biking, and even horseback riding.

There’s one thing that always makes vacation feel like vacation, and that’s usually water.

An extra that I’m always looking for is free airport shuttle service, which they do provide.

Staying at this hotel also provides its guests with access to the nearby area.

A short ferry ride from the hotel is Dauphin Island where visitors can walk the white, sandy beaches. 

For the history buffs, nearby exploration might lead you to Civil War forts, but if you enjoy golfing, you might find yourself at the Robert Trent Jones Trail at Magnolia Grove golf course.

Sonesta Silicon Valley In Milpitas, California

Rounding out the list of US Black-Owned Hotels is the Sonesta Silicon Valley Hotel in Milpitas, California.

Now, I’ve never heard of this city, but I have heard of the nearby area.

If you’re traveling to California’s Silicon Valley, the hotel is minutes away from numerous business headquarters including Google, Apple, Intel, and Hewlett Packard.

While the rooms are newly renovated, a huge draw (for me, at least) is the Google Chromecast availability and L’Occitane bath products found in the bathroom.

Plus, just five miles from the San Jose International Airport, the hotel also offers free shuttle service.

Anguilla Great House Beach Resort In Rendezvous Bay, Anguilla

If you’re looking for a tropical vacation, head to the Anguilla Great House Beach Resort in Rendezvous Bay.

Anguilla is a very small, British territory in the Caribbean meaning most of what you’ll be doing are relaxing on the beach and various beach activities. 

Relaxing on Rendezvous Bay, the hotel gives you access to the longest continuous stretch of sand on the island alongside the backdrop of neighboring island St. Martin.

Guests can easily embrace the local culture by indulging in local barbecue, live music, and the world famous Dune Preserve,
