Black Women On TV: Oprah Winfrey
Oprah is undoubtedly the queen of television! Her first appearance on television was as a host in the talk show, AM Chicago, in 1983. The show was then renamed “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. Her show became extremely successful and the rest is history. She went on to interview some great people and even ventured into the world of acting. Oprah Winfrey is a motivational business woman and sets a great example for black women worldwide. She is a television legend and will always live on in our hearts.
Samira Willey graduated from Julliard School in 2010. She started her acting career in theater performances and later entered the television scene. She is widely known for her role as Poussey Washington in the television series, Orange Is The New Black. She has gradually developed her character to become a fan-favorite. Samira has also done several more acts and voice work. She has a huge fan base and the future is only getting brighter!
Kerry Washington is an actress who has made quite a name for herself in television. She gained popularity as a result of her character, Olivia Pope, in the television drama, Scandal. Apart from Scandal, she’s also had roles in many movies including The Dead Girl, Fantastic Four, The Last King Of Scotland and Django Unchained. Kerry makes women feel both elegant and powerful. It’s hard not to admire her. She is also one of the best dressed women according to me!
