Going to Nassau in the Bahamas on vacation? While there are some top Bahamas resorts, most likely you won’t want to spend all your time in these hotels.
After spending countless hours working and taking care of business, there’s nothing like being able to get some time off for some much needed self-care. We all want to escape the daily life sometimes and go on a relaxing, fun vacation.
However, the reality is that traveling, along with some of the activities you do when abroad, can be extremely expensive. We get it, and that’s why we’ve put together a list of free and cheap things to do the next time you are vacationing in the beautiful Bahamas.
As well as Nassau, we’ve also thrown in some cheap and free things to do in other Bahamas cities too. Share if useful. 🙂
1. Visit Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Center In Nassau
Did you know that there’s only one zoo in the Bahamas? Yes, it’s true. Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center warrants a visit simply because it is the only one of its kind. Featuring exotic animals like the majestic peacock or the Caribbean flamingo, this place will remind you that you are in a true paradise. Some of the activities available here include meeting and feeding the animals, which makes this destination perfect for singles, couples, and/or families. The best part? Day passes are only $18 for adults and $9 for children ages 4-12; children under the age of 3 get in free! For more information about Ardastra Gardens, please visit their official website.
2. Things To Do: Explore Marine Life On A Snorkeling Tour
You can’t go to the Bahamas without getting in the water, even if you only put your feet in. For those feeling a little more adventurous, we’ve found a snorkeling tour that will provide scenic views of the beautiful turquoise waters surrounding the Bahamas without breaking the bank. This snorkeling tour with Viator Tours is comparatively cheaper than other snorkeling tours and the price ($45.00) includes perks like hotel pick-up/drop-off and access to secluded, pristine beach. If you visiting Freeport, Bahamas, grab your gear and get ready for some run-ins with nature! Note: you can see other cheap Caribbean holiday destinations here.
3. Take In Views From The Forts Of The Bahamas Nassau
Even if you aren’t much of a history buff, visiting the different forts of the Bahamas can be a fun experience. The three main forts in the Bahamas include Fort Charlotte, Fort Fincastle, and Fort Montagu. These forts, which have been standing for as long as 200 years, were built in order to be able to look out for enemies approaching the Bahamas. Take a tour of the old cannons, the drawbridges, and even the dungeons. Admission to the forts is as low as $1! You can find out more information right here.
